Our team isn’t just local—they’re neighbors who take pride in serving groups that make an impact in their very own communities. Many of the faces you see have been part of the Baja Cooks family for over 10 years!
Eugene joined the Baja Cooks team in 2009. He is our operations manager and supervises all the equipment and logistics for the groups we serve. He loves meeting missioners from all over the United States and Canada and takes great pride in making sure groups are well fed. Eugene was born and raised in Mexico City but now enjoys the slower pace Baja has to offer. He loves going to the beach and watching baseball.
Sarai is our head cook and has been with Baja Cooks since 2004. She has 4 daughters and 7 grandchildren. Her and her husband Rogelio are both involved with their local church Iglesia Presbiteriana Reformada. She loves working for Baja Cooks because it gives her the opportunity to serve those helping in her own community. Nothing brings her more pleasure than watching people eat the food she prepares.
Tony joined us in 2019 and is one of the newer members of our team. He is married to Gabriela and they have 3 children. During the off season he works as an Uber driver in Mexico City. Tony and Gabriela hope to leave the big city behind and move to Baja full time soon. Tony’s hobbies include going to the beach, classic rock, and watching football and soccer.
Edith has been a big part of the Baja Cooks team since 2007. She is an excellent cook and loves serving food to groups serving in her own community. She was born in the state of Nayarit, has 6 children and enjoys spending time with her family. During the off-season Edith works at the Dart plant in Tijuana.
Danny joined Baja Cooks back in 2011. He used to live right across the street from Amor Ministries old camp “The Vinyard”. He is a very hard worker who helps with the setup, maintenance and take down of all our tents. Danny’s hobbies include soccer and drawing.
Samantha started working with Baja Cooks in 2007 and has been a huge help in the kitchen. She truly enjoys the kindness and gratitude of the people she serves at camp. Samantha enjoys movie nights with her husband and two kids.
Lucy is a mother of five wonderful kids and a great cook just like her mother. She came to us in 2007 and calls Baja Cooks her second home. When asked what she loves about working at Baja Cooks she says, “It gives me great pleasure serving people of different ages, backgrounds and customs that all have one goal in common, helping families that need it the most.”
Laura started in 2014 and has been a great addition to our kitchen staff. “I wouldn’t work anywhere without a family ambiance as part of the work environment” she says. She loves to see how people get together every year to make a difference in her very own neighborhood. Seeing how happy people are in their last day prior to going back across the border “is a great thing to watch” a unique experience.
Liz is one of Sarai’s granddaughters and has been with us since 2014. At the age of 6 Liz used to come to watch her grandma’s work and learned a lot by watching. She has been a great team player and truly enjoys the friendly work environment. She loves to see the groups we serve helping the people who need it the most. Liz enjoys playing soccer and watching baseball.
Marcos started working at Baja Cooks in 2014. He is a hard worker and helps with the setup and take down of camp. “I enjoy working at Baja Cooks because I like interacting with my coworkers and meeting missioners from all over the United States.” Marcos loves listening to music.
Carlos is one of the newest members of the Baja Cooks family. He started in 2022 and helps with the setup and takedown of camp. Carlos likes working for Baja Cooks because he enjoys serving groups that help Mexican families in his own neighborhood.
Troy started Baja Cooks (then Camping Pros) in 1999 when Amor was working out of their old camp known as the “Rock Pit”. He takes great pride in how long the Baja Cooks team has been together (many over 15 years). Troy and his wife live in San Diego and are the proud parents of two sons. He is an avid Padres fan and enjoys paddleboarding, pickleball and playing the drums. (Linkedin)
Carlos joined the Baja Cooks Team in late 2008. Our former Operation’s Manager and now personal Food & Beverage consultant holds a culinary degree from the American Culinary Federation. He is also ServSafe Certified by the National Restaurant Association. Carlos has been a remarkable source of information for our kitchen staff. Spending time with his family and riding his bicycle are his favorite pastimes. (Linkedin)
